Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment that uses micro-needles to create tiny micro-perforations on the skin’s surface. This stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin, helping to improve skin texture, tone, and firmness.

The sensation varies from person to person. Generally, a slight sensitivity or discomfort is felt, similar to a mild tingling, but it is well-tolerated by most people. In professional clinics, a numbing cream can be used to improve comfort.

The best results are usually achieved with a plan of multiple sessions (for example, 3–6), spaced about 4–8 weeks apart. After the initial series, a periodic maintenance session can be considered.

Immediately after treatment, the skin may appear red, sensitive, or slightly swollen, similar to mild erythema, but these effects tend to disappear within 1–3 days. There is no need to interrupt your daily routine.

It is advisable to avoid makeup for the first 24 hours to support the skin’s natural regeneration. After this period, you can resume your normal routine.

Microneedling is considered safe, but as with any procedure, redness, slight swelling, dryness, or temporary flaking may occur. Bruising or more intense irritation may rarely occur.

Most skin types can benefit from the treatment. However, it is not recommended in cases of active skin infections, very irritated skin, or recent use of certain medications (e.g., isotretinoin): it is always best to consult a professional before starting.
